The Bride
Lauren Ashley Blackwood was born in
August of 1983 in Houston, TX, to Karen and Edd Blackwood. She has one sister,
Katelyn, who is her Maid of Honor
(see more about Katelyn on the
Bridal Party
page). Lauren attended Thomas
Sinclair Elementary and
Northwest Academy.
Northwest later became Houston Christian
High School, where she met Nick. Lauren found
herself at Second Baptist School for her
senior year.
Shortly after her high school
graduation, Lauren became an Aggie at
Texas A&M University. |

While attending TAMU, Lauren was involved in many
activities which included club
volleyball, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority,
Big Brother Big Sister, and Texas Trophy
Hunter’s Association.
Lauren also took a job as a club
volleyball coach for a local ball club
and was the head coach for the top 15
year-old team. She lead her team to many
victories and found a new love and a
gift for coaching. After her challenging years of college at TAMU,
Lauren graduated with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Agricultural
Development (aka Leadership). She
has since moved to Mobile, Alabama,
where she is planning the most important
event of her life… her wedding.
After the wedding Lauren plans to take
a job at a local private school to
teach and coach. |

The Groom
Nicholas Coles Wuertz was born in May
of 1983 in New Orleans, LA, to
Joy and Henry Wuertz. Nick has one
sister, Hope, and one brother,
Brandon (see more about Hope and
Brandon on the
Bridal Party
page). Not long after Hope
was born and the Wuertz Family moved
to Humble, Texas, Nick attended middle school at St. Anne
Catholic School. Houston Christian
High School was the next move for
Nick, which is where he first laid
eyes on Lauren Ashley Blackwood.

After four short years of classes
(two of which were spent daydreaming
about Lauren), the golf team and
a demanding social life, Nick moved
on to Louisiana College in
Pineville, Louisiana. The small town
of Pineville was too small and hard
to adapt to for Nick. After one year
at LC, Nick returned to Houston for
one semester and then transferred to
St. Edwards University in Austin,
Texas. A little over two years later
he graduated with a Business Degree.
Soon after graduation Nick began
working for Dunhill Products, L.P.,
a niche oil company based in
Houston. The job has been very
educational and has taken him many
places, the most recent being
Mobile, Alabama, where the company
is exploring new avenues of the
industry. |
